Going Bald Like a Man

Ever since I met Mark, he has been lamenting the slow loss of his hair. His nightly bedtime routine involves grabbing my brush and finding new ways to comb his hair to cover the thinning spots at the front of his hair. Well, last night I happened to stumble across this video on msn.com called, "Going Bald Like a Man." It was too good to pass up, and I made sure that Mark watched it. It gave us a good chuckle anyway. Love you, Markus - with or without hair!!

Yee Haw!

As soon as we moved to Houston we started hearing about The Rodeo. It is THE social event of the year in Texas and includes not only the traditional "rodeo stuff" but also cook-offs and concerts. Mark bought tickets to the opening day of the rodeo and gave them to me for Valentine's day. We went with the Webbs, who are seasoned Rodeo attenders, so they could show us what the rodeo in Houston is all about. With all my morning/all-day sickness, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to enjoy everything, but baby calmed down and let me have some fun. Yay!

The first thing we hit up was the food, of course! They had everything
from Turkey Legs to Ginormous Burritos. Yum! (The lady who took
our picture was nice, but obviously couldn't hold the camera still...)

We learned how to hold a lasso and rope a cow. Doesn't
Mark look great in a cowboy hat?

Mark also rode a bull and I raced Sister Webb down the Goliath Slide. You can see the videos below. We wound up the night with the Rodeo (calf roping, steer wrestling, bull riding, etc.) and Rascall Flatts in concert. We give the Houston Rodeo 5 stars!

Better known in the states as "backgammon," Nardi is the national pastime of all Armenian men. All boys are initiated into manhood with a game of Nardi. Old men sit and play all day, shouting insults at one another and engaging in other "trash talk." On a fine day, you will see groups of men, young and old, gathered on almost every street corner engaged in a Nardi tournament. It was on such a fine day that we happened upon three men playing Nardi in a garden. Ah, Armenia.... I love you!

Our House, In the Middle of Our Street

We found a house! After months of looking, talking to builders, looking at thousands of floorplans, and debating back and forth about building or buying, we found our house. We were originally going to build a house, but after one of the builders we were seriously considering went out of business, we got a little skittish about building. What if that happened to the builder we decided to have build our house, and then we would be out money AND house? Not good.

So, we looked online, and saw a cute house for sale - never been lived in, and met our requirements: Front Porch, Shutters on the windows, Red brick, Spindles in the stairway, Granite countertops, Stainless steel appliances, Jetted tub... It was all there! We drove out the next day to see it, and it just had our names stamped all over it. It took one walk-through, and we put an offer on the house.

I have a testimony that if something is right for us, the Lord has an uncanny knack for making things work out. Our offer was accepted, the builder offered to buy out our apartment lease so we can close and move in before March! I just know that this is where we are supposed to be at this time in our lives. I am so grateful that Heavenly Father looks out for us.

Here are some pictures of our house:

Bugged

I've been Bug Tagged!

We all have our pet peeves. And it must be admitted that we all do things that bug others too. It's funny to observe that most of the things that bug us are so small... small enough that most of the time they're not worth mentioning. But those little things add up, and it feels so great to let them all out, doesn't it? So, with that said, what are the little things that bug me........

1. When people leave cupboard doors open. If you can use the energy to open it, it doesn't take much more to close it again!

2. People who cut other people off in traffic - and no signaling either!

3. Dog owners who let their dogs do their duty on the stairs of our apartment building and just leave it there. SICK! How hard is it to grab the doggie doo bag that has been hung right by the stairwell just for your convenience????

4. People who always have to be right - no matter what!

5. When you have to listen to someone gluping their drink. It's just NOT attractive.

6. Open empty food wrappers on the kitchen counter. The garbage can is RIGHT THERE. Can you throw it away???

7. The fact that I can't pay my internet bill online. Our account "simply is not set up for that." Isn't there something wrong with that?

8. When my work schedule gets changed every day for the day before. Do you, miss Scheduler, understand how annoying this is? I can never make any plans because I never know how early or late or even if I'll be working!

9. Bills that are left unfiled and pile up on top of the filing cabinet.

10. Fingernail clippings left in the sink. SO GROSS! Once again, it doesn't take much to turn on the faucet and wash them down the drain!

I want to know what "BUGS" you, so I tag 10 people! Put at least 10 things and tag at least 10 more people, and there is NO "tagging everyone"! Because tagging everyone "bugs" Brittany over at These Are The Days.
