Saturday morning was my baby shower. Mark went skeet shooting with the guys, and we got to have a girl's day in. A big thank you to my friends Charlotte and Cathi for putting it on for me. We had such a fun time, and I got so many cute things for the baby!
When Mark goes to visit the Corpus Christi office, I sometimes get the opportunity to go along and hang out at the beach while he's at work. This weekend, Mark's sister, Rachelle, and her family were heading down to check out the beach. So, Mark and I headed down too. Mark worked at the Corpus office on Friday while I hung out with the fam, then we played Friday night and Saturday. We must have played really hard, because we came home tired, sunburned, and sore! It was fun times.
Highlights of the Trip:
1. Soaking up the sun at the beach in Port Aransas.

2. Quotes like these from the kids:
"Kyra, does Mark still work at that gas place, you know, where you fill up your car with gas?" - Emma
(Yes, Mark does still work at that gas place. No, it is NOT the gas station! ha ha!)
"Let's go souvenir shopping tonight." - Cami
"Why do you want to go souvenir shopping when we're still in Texas?" - Emma
"Hi Mark. I take a shower!" - Zach (with a huge smile on his face)
"You sure did! Kicked and screamed bloody murder the whole time, but you took a shower!" - Mark
3. Shuffleboard. Coolest. Game. Ever.
4. Eating bluebell ice cream in a funky shop in Port Aransas. And then finding out that the lady who runs the shop keeps a dog in there. Pretty sure that's against OSHA regulations...
We were also teaching Zach to lick his ice cream cone fast so it didn't drip all over the place. It turned out pretty funny:
5. On the way home from Corpus, Mark and I stopped to get a picture of a cotton field. We jumped out of the car (leaving the doors open), snapped a couple of pictures and hopped back in the car. Only to find about a bajillion mosquitoes in our car! We jumped out, opened the doors, shooed as many as we could out, and then drove with the windows open halfway home, slapping mosquitoes as we went. Quite the adventure! We did get some fun pics though:

We have been busy little bees getting the baby room all ready. We found the right color green for the wall, and now I just have to work on getting some things on the walls. Here is what we have accomplished so far:

The time has come to paint the baby room! After many weeks of careful thought, I decided that itwould be fun to put a chair rail up in the baby room. Below the chair rail we would leave the wall the neutral color that it already is, and above the chair rail we would paint green to match te green in her bedding. (Mark nixed pink early on.) So, we headed to Lowes to pick out some paint. I took a sample of the green that I wanted, and we found two possible matches.
Match #1: Turned out ok, but not quite the shade I was looking for.
Match #2: Hello FLORESCENT! Um, definitely not.
So, back to Lowes for some more matching and 2 more samples.
Match #3: Frog-ugly green. No way.
Match #4: Only slightly better than the frog-ugly green. I think not.
Once again, back to Lowes for matching and 2 more samples.
Match #5: I like it! It's pretty close to match #1, but may work out a bit better.
Match #6: Pretty much the color I had in mind, but I'm scared it may look too much lime green.
So many choices! And our wall now has big green patches all over it, but you never know until you try, right? Any votes?

Friday I had my 30 week check-up. Everything is going well. Hard to believe that we only have 9 weeks left! Time has just flown by. I remember thinking at 20 weeks, that 20 more weeks was so long to wait, but 11 of those weeks have whizzed right on by. Here's what's going on:
*I've gained 13 pounds in the last 11 weeks. I blame it on the ice cream, cupcakes, and candy I've been craving lately.
*The baby is more active than ever. She wouldn't even hold still long enough for the nurse to get her heartbeat. As soon as the nurse would find it, the baby would move. She's quite a little teaser like that.
*The baby has discovered that my ribs make a comfortable resting place for her feet, and my bladder makes a nice little punching bag. I, however, don't think that either of these is a good idea.
*I'm feeling the heat a lot more keenly now. Thank goodness for air conditioning, the pool, and popsicles. I have a feeling that August will not be a pleasant month.
*I'm having fun planning the nursery. The furniture and bedding are in place, now we just need to paint, decorate the walls, and we're ready!
