6 Month Stats

Brielle had her 6 month check-up today.  The shots were ok, she was very brave - only started crying after the 2nd shot.  Here are her 6 month stats:

Height:  26.5 inches (95%)
Weight:  18 pounds 10 oz. (91%)

Apparently, she has grown like a weed in the past two months!

1/2

Brielle turned 6 months old today!  It's hard to believe that much time has passed since she was born.  In way of celebration, we took Brielle to the park to play for 1/2 an hour then we came home and had 1/2 of a birthday cake.  I made the cake to look like flowers and vines, and I was quite happy with the way it turned out.  My pride was short-lived however; as soon as it was made, Brielle got a handful of the frosting and started eating away!  We couldn't get her fist out of her mouth until the frosting was all gone.  Luckily, she has a pretty small hand, so my cake was salvageable.  I fixed it right up, and you could hardly tell that my little munchkin had gotten to it.

Brielle on the swings.  Sorry about the sideways part, but I couldn't fix it.

The cake before it was cut in half, but after Brielle attacked it.  I put that part on the back side.

The next two videos are just of us singing and Brielle getting her second taste of frosting from the cake.  She also got a taste of rainbow sherbet, which she LOVED.

Some of the things Brielle has started:
- Sitting up
- Scooting forward.  She'll be crawling before long, I'm a-thinkin'!
- A love of tags.  Any tag.  Any shape.  Any size.  On her bib.  On her blanket.  On the kitchen rug.  On her stroller.  On the boppy pillow.  They all go in the mouth.
- A love of grass.  I guess she thinks it tastes great.  Every time I put her on a blanket outside, she scoots to the edge and starts eating grass as fast as she can.
- Baby food.  She'll eat it all, but particular favorites are bananas and pears.
- Exploring.  She LOVES to explore (and eat) the diapers, the wipes, the newspapers, the videos...
- Songs.  Brielle loves to sing with Mommy.  We sing "Where is Thumbkin", "The Itsy Bitsy Spider", "The Hokey Pokey", and "If You're Happy and You Know It."

Brielle will have her 6 month check-up on Monday, so stats are coming soon!

Rockets Fan (or not)

We went to the Rockets game last night.  Mark got some tickets through work, and they were great seats in the 17th row.  We decided to take Brielle with us, to see how she'd do.  She didn't know exactly what was going on, but she seemed to do just fine.  Until the amazing slam dunk play 15 minutes into the first quarter.  It was an amazing play.  The crowd went wild.  And Brielle looked at us as her big gray eyes welled with tears and she started to cry.  Big crocodile tears.  With the hiccoughing sobs.  Poor little tender heart!  I felt like the worst parent in the world for subjecting her to such loud noises.  We got her to calm down, but every time the crowd cheered, she would look at us with her eyes wide and start to cry again.  I guess the sudden change in volume was just too much for her little nerves to handle.  We stayed until half-time, and then we decided to go home.  I guess it will take some time before Brielle is a Rocket's fan.

Mommy, Daddy, and Brielle at the game.  Sorry it's kind of retarded.  It was self-taken.

Our little tender-heart.  Can you tell she's not so excited?

Quick Trip

Mark's Grandpa Jacobson passed away last week after a long battle with cancer.  We had just been to Utah for a ski trip, so we had decided that just Mark would go up for the funeral.  Well, finding flights was a huge problem, because they were all sold out!   Mark finally found a flight there, but he wouldn't be able to come back until 4 days later.  Not wanting to be left behind for that long, Brielle and I went along.

The funeral was nice, and I'm so glad that I went with Mark.  I haven't really met the Jacobson side of the family, so it was really neat to see where Mark comes from in that sense.  It really helped me understand a lot more about him in certain aspects.  He really comes from a great family on both sides.

One of the best things about our trip is that Brielle got to see her cousin Owen.  Owen is only 6 weeks younger than Brielle, and they had a great time together.  I think they will always be special cousins.

Predicaments of a Baby

It's hard to be a baby.  You often find yourself stuck

Under the Bed...

Under the Bouncer

In the Bouncer

Trying to climb out of the Bouncer

In the grasp of the other kids

By the videos.  And of course we needed to pick one to watch!

Why I Love Houston

Because for the whole week I've been able to wear these.
'Nough said.

But seriously, I LOVE wearing my flip flops.  So I'm glad that we moved to a place where I can wear my flip flops from March until November.  It's awesome.  Granted, I may have to read this post to remind myself why I love Houston in July and August.  But March sure is great!
